Biffy Clyro 28th March 2013

Holy Mary, Mother of God! I went to see Biffy Clyro in the O2 Arena, Dublin on Thursday night and wow, just wow! It's one of the best concerts I've ever been to in my life. They were absolutally amazing, they played every song to perfection and the crowd was mental. Like my Slash post (which you can read here) if any word or sentence is highlighted that means if you click the word it will link you to a song, YouTube video, Facebook page, Twitter or to whatever I'm talking about which might give you a better idea of what I'm talking about if you don't already know. So, on with the post.
I went to the concert with my friend Rachel and my dad, and before you're all like "omg you had to go with your dad, that's sad" I didn't have to go with my dad, he likes Biffy Clyro and wanted to go because he's cool, deal with it. He did stand at the back for the whole thing though, while me and Rachel started off in the middle of the crowd and were eventually pushed to the left of the stage, right in front of where the stage came out meaning Simon Neil sang "Biblical" and "God and Satan" about two feet away from us, no big deal! We spent the first half of the concert in the middle of the crowd being battered around, which doesn't sound like much fun but it was actually so amazing. I nearly lost my shoe twice, the second time I just took it off for a minute and was being pushed around with my shoe waving in the air. Then we spent the second half of the concert to the left of the stage, which was more calm but still amazing since we were so close to the stage. They played a lot of songs off the new album, Opposites, but there was a good bit of older things as well. They played my favourite song "Who's Got a Match?" which was amazing, and when they played "Glitter and Trauma" they had strobes and loads of flashing lights and it was just amazing, but I think "That Golden Rule" was the best song of the night! The crowd went mental, so mental that the security had to come into the crowd because there was going to be a massive circle pit where we were and they were pulling people into the circle trying to fill it, which was kinda bad but it didn't stop us all going mad! Overall, they were amazing! All the production was deadly, they had a giant rib cage thing on stage which looked great and they had loads of lights and air cannons which, I think, always makes a concert more exciting. I'm still amazed at how good it was. They are definitely a band I would go to see again, they were just so good!
As for what I was wearing, I just wore a pair of high waisted, denim shorts that I'm constantly borrowing from my sister, my Iron Maiden t-shirt, a jumper from www.becomeantique.com which I love to bits and a pair of Aztec print Converse which I nearly lost one of, haha. Makeup wise, I just wore my normal face stuff and I used my new Urban Decay Naked Palette for my eyes which I've complete fallen in love with and I wore my Rimmel Kate Moss lipstick in 107 which I also love to bits.
So that's the last of my concerts until May, when I go to see Enter Shikari which I'm really looking forward to. And if Biffy Clyro are playing a concert near you, I highly recommend that you go, even just for the experience because they are such an amazing live band. I did take a few pictures but they're not very good, I posted the best one on my Instagram which is catrionameatsix if you wanted to check it out and I have Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest  if you want to check those out, there's also links to them all on the side of my blog. And as I've said before, I'd like to thank everyone who's taken the time to read my blog or who's given me feedback on my posts even if it's just liking my Facebook status, it really means so much to me when people comment on my writing so thank you all so much. Anyway, thanks for reading :)

Final Night of Sin!

Bonjour! Today I finally got time to sit and watch my Final Night of Sin DVD which, for those who don't know, is a live DVD of You Me at Six performing to a sold out Wembley Arena, no big deal! In this post I'm going to review the DVD and it is a very biased opinion because YMAS are my favourite band off all time, ever!
Before I get into the review I just want to try to explain how much this band means to me. I first fell in love with You Me at Six in the Summer of 2009, their song "Jealous Minds Think Alike" came on Scuzz and it was love at first sight. I listened to them over and over again and when I went into 1st Year whenever I had to say something about myself I'd say "I love You Me at Six". I've seen them live 4 times, the first time was when they supported Paramore in December 2009. I also saw them on the 28th of March 2010 which is the day I met them because I won a meet and greet and when I met them I cried, that's how sad I am but I don't even care. I, then, saw them in December 2010 and again in April 2012. I listen to them every day and I'm still not bored of their songs. It's hard to explain how a band can mean so much to someone unless that person feels the same way towards a band or singer or whoever. I do love people and all but with a band it's so different. If you fight with your friends or family, they're not there to help you but music is something that's always there, no matter what. When YMAS announced that Wembley Arena was sold out I was so proud of them, which sounds stupid but I was! They deserve everything they've achieved and I'm not just saying this because I love them, they've worked so hard to get where they are today. I'm not saying that makes them better then people who maybe got lucky with success, like I'm quite fond of One Direction and I'm sure they'd sell out Wembley Arena but they've practically been handed everything they have which is why this is such a big deal for YMAS and their fans. I don't know what to say, I just love them. They mean everything to me and I don't know where I'd be without them.
Now onto the review. I think YMAS performed amazingly at Wembley. Like I've said, I've seen them 4 times so I have a good idea of how amazing they were live but wow, they were did absolutally brilliantly! I have never heard Josh's voice sound so good, he sung every note perfectly. All the instruments sounded amazing! They all have so much energy. Dan kept everything perfect on the drums, Max was doing all his little spins and head bangs, Matt was jumping around with so much energy and Chris was amazing with his fabulous hair swishing everywhere. I think all the production and lights and everything just made it! I've seen them play with flashing lights and air cannons but this was so much better and I wasn't even there. I love how they played songs from every album and how they played the slower songs that they might not usually play live like "When We Were Younger". The crowd sang everything so loudly, it sounded great especially "Underdog", I've never heard it so loud but then again I've never heard it from a sold out Wembley Arena. I'm so glad they released the show on DVD for the people, like me, who sadly didn't get to go and I'm just so proud of them.
For those who aren't YMAS fans, I seriously recommend you go and listen to some of their songs, they have so many different styled songs but they're all amazing, there's probably one that you will like. I hope you enjoyed this post, for anyone interested you can pre-order the Final Night of Sin DVD here: http://youmeatsix.co.uk/thefinalnightofsin/home.php and thanks for reading :)

Slash 4th March 2013

Wow! Last night I went to see Slash, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators in the Olympia, Dublin and it was amazing. I got the tickets for Christmas and I was delighted when I found them in my stocking that morning. They played two nights and they were both sold out in no time. In this post I'm not only going to write about his amazing performance, I'm going to be really girly and write about what outfit I wore and what makeup I wore. I'm also going to review his albums "Slash" and "Apocalyptic Love" because they're both brilliant and I haven't posted in ages so this might be a long one. Also, if I start to talk about any songs in particular and you're curious as to what they sound like then if the song title is highlighted or underlined then click on the song title and it will link you to a YouTube video of the song.
Firstly, I'm not going to write about the band that supported because I can't remember their name and I wasn't really paying attention, I was too busy slagging them, haha. I was sitting at this concert, which I know sounds boring but at a Slash concert it really doesn't matter, I was standing anyway. When the lights went down after the crew set up the stage after the first band, the speakers erupted with one of the most beautiful noises I will ever hear. Slash, Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators were on stage, they opened with "Halo" from the album "Apocalyptic Love" which is such a great introduction. I can't remember the whole set list but I can remember most of the songs. They played "Not For Me" and I nearly died, it is my favourite Slash song and it's just so amazing! The played songs from both albums, "Slash" and "Apocalyptic Love", but they also played some Guns N Roses songs and they played "Slither" by Velvet Revolver. They also played "Doctor Alibi", which a local band "The Ladz" do an excellent cover of, but instead of Myles Kennedy singing, Todd Kerns sang because you need a pretty deep voice to sing this song and sing it well. Looking back on it, they played so many songs I'd be here all day talking about each one, they did perform for around 2 hours after all. To sum it up, they were absolutally brilliant and I'm glad to be able to say that I've seen Slash live in concert.
If you're not into clothes and makeup, I suggest you skip to the next paragraph. Since I was going to a concert I wanted to look nice but be comfortable so I just wore red and black jeans, and Guns N Roses t-shirt that I ripped the sleeves off and a grey hoodie with converse. But my makeup is probably more interesting, I just wore my Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation, with some Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection concealer and some Rimmel Stay Matte powder as my base. Then for my eyes I got inspiration from a Tanya Burr Beyonce Makeup Tutorial because I got "twinks" and "contrast" Mac eyeshadow for Christmas and instead of using "naked lunch", I used "sin" from the Urban Decay naked palette. I used the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion which is amazing! I have really oily lids and it helps stop my eyeshadows creasing and even after a concert, my eyeshadow was grand. After the prime was set, I just put "sin" all over my lid, then a bit of "twinks" through my crease, then "contrast" on my bottom lash line. I used Maybelline Eyestudio Gel Eyeliner to line my top lashes and I used my Maybelline The Falsies mascara. I also wore Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick by Kate Moss in 107 which also lasted most of the night and I never topped it up. So that's my outfit and makeup done.
I'm just going to review the albums "Slash" and "Apocalyptic Love" quickly, and if you haven't listened to any of them then I highly recommend that you do, right now! They're both so amazing, but different. "Slash" has so many different artists working and singing on it so there's such a variety of songs. I think each different artist brought a bit of their own style of music to the songs. There are the likes of Fergie, M Shadows, Ozzy Osbourne, Chris Cornell, Lemmy, Kid Rock, Iggy Pop and Myles Kennedy singing on the album. If you like any of those artists, you'll probably like their songs on this album and maybe find out that you like other kinds of music because each song on the album is so different. "Apocalyptic Love" is just such an epic album. I love Myles Kennedy's voice, I think he's such a brilliant singer so I love every single song on this album. There are slow songs but there are also songs that are pure amazing! They're just two amazing albums that I think everyone should check out.
I think that's everything I wanted to cover that is Slash related! If you ever have a chance to go see Slash live, you should go. He puts on such an amazing show and most of the crowd is made up of drunk parents which is always amusing to watch. Hope you enjoyed this post, thanks for reading :)
